The Pennyroyal Drawings (cave)

$50.00

Jeff Williams' lithograph editioned for Liquefier is from a larger series titled The Pennyroyal Drawings. The originals are drawn with litho crayon and ink on mylar at 40 x 62 inches. The series was made during the late summer and fall of 2020, when Williams was offered the opportunity to stay at the historic boarding house Pennyroyal Arms in Mount Washington, MA. Each drawing in the series is made during his 4 month stay. The COVID pandemic made it easy to trespass through the private properties that carve up the mountain and Williams recorded his day hikes in a sketchbook that were then distorted, transformed, and scaled up in his studio at night. The Pennyroyal Drawings (cave) is one of a handful that is entirely from imagination, thinking of the contrasting experiences of exploring Central Texas where he spends half the year. The (cave) is cartoonish and irreverent, with hallucinatory images embedded within the larger composition, drawn with the speed and conviction of trying to capture a specific moment.

Created specifically in collaboration with Kingston’s local 1080 press for the show Liquefier, the resulting lithograph carefully translates all of the details into an offset edition of 100 prints.
